Sikhs of Northampton – A Celebration

‘Sikh Museum Northampton – Opening in Summer 2021!’

SCCYC Waterside Connect ‘Connecting Communities’

SCCYC Northampton received a grant from the ‘Heritage Fund’ towards its heritage project, ‘Sikhs of Northampton – Celebrating 60 Years!’

The ‘Sikhs of Northampton – Celebrating 60 Years!’ project consolidated work undertaken over the last 10 years on a wide variety of heritage-based projects, improving past heritage to a high-quality offering and creating a heritage trail and Sikh/Core values learning materials.

The ‘Community Voices’ exhibition celebrates the rich heritage of the Sikhs of Northampton over the past 60 years.  The project explored Immigration memories and challenges faced by Sikhs of Northampton upon settlement and the Values that helped them to not only survive but thrive as families, a community, and continued support for the wider community to fulfill their vision of a flourishing Town.

The project is shared through exhibition, scriptures, art, workshops, and learning materials in its library and digital technology including interactive screens, videos and website resources.  Post pandemic, SCCYC plans to hold a grand opening to celebrate the past and present achievements and share the project and Museum widely and nationally.
